Name: Heather Menzies

Where you’re from/where you live: San Francisco, California

Role: Director, Client Success

Favorite Quote: “Anything else you're interested in is not going to happen if you can't breathe the air and drink the water. Don't sit this one out. Do something. You are by accident of fate alive at an absolutely critical moment in the history of our planet.” - Carl Sagan

How you ended up in your field: I’m one of the most empathic humans you’ll ever meet; I truly want to make the world a better and sustainable place. Plus I’m a data nerd who loves learning through client use cases. Client Success in the Renewable Energy industry organically aligns my passion for sustainability and personal strengths including relationship building.

I fight for my clients on a daily basis. Whether I’m pitching a POC to scalable feature request to Product or pushing Data Engineering for bug resolutions, I fight to provide value for our entire client portfolio - I got you and I’ll make sure our product reflects that!

What motivates/inspires you: Our SoulCycle and Barry’s Community! I can’t imagine surviving the pandemic without my Soul at home bike and our online community pushing me… until we meet again in the red room!

What is something you’re proud of? Being open and honest with my colleagues, friends, and family, especially in regards to my mental health. I was diagnosed with ADHD a couple of years ago and immediately started treatment. Even though treatment has been life-changing, my struggles with ADHD will continue to be a daily uphill battle.

By sharing my personal stories, I’ve provided an olive branch for others to share their mental health successes and challenges. We’re all students for life, so it’s important to continue knowledge transfers as we navigate through this modern world, together as a collective, with the goal of spreading peace, love, unity, and respect.

Why do you love working at NarrativeWave:

  • Awesome company culture

    • hardworking/industry-leading individuals who take pride in the ownership and accountability of their work. Everyone is always willing to lend a hand to one another as we meet our value-driven goals.

    • Diversity is at the core of our global company. We’re empowered to be ourselves without judgement; we all have something unique to contribute!

  • Product - I stand behind our advanced analytics, UI, data model, and data warehouse.

    • Our approach to onboarding and product adoption is vastly different than other organizations. My team works directly with our clients, starting in the pre-sale phase of our client journey, to scope customized 90-180 Day Onboarding Success Plans that align our clients' business objectives with our product roadmap. Time and time again, we meet our objectives and are able to start showcasing ROI metrics in as little as 3-6 weeks. Yes, our onboarding process is that quick and easy.

    • We take a prescriptive and predictive approach to product adoption during the first week of our Success Plan Kick-Off. Based on our client’s uses cases and lessons learned, our product puts the power of advanced analytics into the hands of daily users through user editability design embedded in every module. This is our product’s core value proposition - our clients know their assets better than we do, so it only makes sense to provide them with an analytic insight tool necessary to rule out any unknowns, make sound judgments based on data, not assumptions, immediately take action, then use our machine learning dashboards to close the loop through user-editable analytics over-time.

Favorite TV show? American Horror Story

Favorite book? Spirit Hacking - Shaman Durek

If you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you spend it? Yoga and meditation

Volunteer Work: I’m an active member of our local LGBTQIA+ community. I volunteer at the San Francisco LGBT center providing hands-on support at the Helpdesk and special events. Although it’s been difficult to find opportunities during the pandemic.

During the pandemic, I discovered outdoor volunteer opportunities with Sweet Farm in Half Moon Bay. Sweet Farm provides me with the opportunity to be an active member of our vegan community; we align our core values with boots-on-the-ground work.

I sign-up for multiple shift opportunities:

  • Animal Care Associate

    • cleaning animal barns/coops/fields

    • brushing/feeding/loving farm animals

      • discovering the animals' unique stories and boundaries while spreading human kindness as they learn its existence is, by far, the most rewarding activity

  • Agriculture Assistant

    • assist in the maintenance of “veganic” gardens while learning organic farming best practices

      • weeding, trimming, planting based on crop identification and any specific considerations within “Beautification Hours”
